Stucco Netting - Supporting Mesh in Wall Construction
SN-01: Stucco netting is widely used in the wall constructions.
Stucco netting is widely used in the wall constructions.
Stucco netting, a classical and basic material in wall construction as the supporting and reinforcing mesh. It is a kind of steel wire mesh with hexagonal meshes. The stucco netting is mainly made of galvanized steel wire and then reverse twisted into hexagonal meshes. The reverse twist structure make the stucco netting a solid, uniform and flat structure for high strength and durability. Reinforced wires can be added onto the stucco netting for higher load capacity and maintain flatness.
Compared with other type stucco netting, such as welded wire mesh or expanded metal mesh, the woven structure will not cracking and loosing when it is cut into pieces.
Stucco netting is widely used in various wall surface for plastering, cementing, stuccoing and other wall constructions.

Stucco woven wire flush to tar paper for patch?
This is prep for a stucco patch job it looks wrong to me. The woven wire is tight to the tar paper leaving no room for stucco to surround it. The staples pull out easily and look like they will rust. And the staples are in the sheathing not the framing. Am I too picky here?
The California Building Code says to use ASTM C. ASTM C has notes:
*Table 3 Footnote: B (Woven Wire) Metal plaster bases shall be furred away from vertical supports or solid surfaces at least 14 in. Self-furring lath meets furring requirements.
*
Section 7.10.2.2 says Staples shall have crowns not less than 34 in. (19.05 mm) and shall engage not less than three strands of lath and penetrate the wood framing members not less than 34 in.
