FAQ
You can find more information on our web, so please take a look.
Shade Sizes
How narrow can the shade be?
We can make the shade as narrow as you like. However, the roller drum has to have enough spring to accommodate the extension of the shade. With that, we can keep your shade width as narrow as you request and simply center it on the roller or jog it all the way to the left or right. See graphic below.. It is also worth noting that if you want a long travel and a narrow shade we will likely have to use a 3" roller tube. The more travel the machine roll up guard has the longer the spring assembly needs to be to accommodate that travel. Our estimating department will work with you on your limitations to give you some options.
As a general reference we can provide a
- 6" wide roller that extends 12" to 63"
- 8" wide roller that extends 64" to 86"
- 10" wide roller that extends 12" to 118"
Can these be used in Vertical applications?
Yes the shade can be used in both the vertical and horizontal position.
Is there a maximum overall length x width for the shades?
About 120" x 120" is the max shade size. Keep in mind if it is not used with "A" or "B" orientation below it will sag at these larger sizes.
Is there a maximum overall length / extension for the shades?
- About 72" for standard duty rollers
- About 240" for heavy duty rollers
How much will a shade SAG?
The amount of sag varies and we do not have a way to calculate that due to the complexities of shade weights, spring tension settings, and debris that maybe on the shades. If you are concerned with sag please ask your sales person to discuss it.
You will get efficient and thoughtful service from LIONSHELL.
Any option for shades that require long shades that might sag?
- When a roller safety guard that has a very long shade and it is used in position "A" or "B" as shown in the diagram below, then we have to contend with sag from gravity. If it is used in the vertical position as shown in diagram "C" then this is not a problem.
- If it is "A" or "B" orientation then we can add stiffening flats to the shade as shown in picture below "D" to give the shade structure. Keep in mind if it is orientation "A" and it is a long shade greater than about 80" then it will still sag unless the shade slides on a customer supplied frame.
Mounting Brackets
The mounting brackets are at a 90 degree, Do you have an option for a straight bracket?
Unfortunately, we only have the L-shaped mounting brackets. They are removable so you could take them off and cut off one of bottom of the leg to make it straight. Keep in mind you can also toe the bracket inward / under the roller so that it reduces the footprint size.
Roller Sizes
What is the diameter of the roller when rolled up?
If you have space constraints please ask your sales person to compute the diameter of the roller when the material is rolled up. As an average, the standard 18oz shade adds about .375" to .50" to the OD when rolled up. (1" roller shown below with 18oz vinyl shade)
Repairs
Can the internal springs be replaced?
Yes, the internal springs can be replaced should they break from extensive use. To replace a spring we would simply need to know your order number and some application details to determine why it has failed. It is rare that springs fail, so we would want to make sure you are using the right roller for the application. We do not repair other companies' rollers.
