How to use a farm tractor correctly

Jun. 18, 2024

As the number of tractors continues to increase, tractors have become the main power machinery in agricultural production. However, due to improper use, malfunctions often occur, delaying farming time, affecting production, and increasing repair costs. Correct use is extremely important for reducing production costs and extending the service life of tractors.

1. Starting

According to tests, the amount of wear caused by the engine when starting is about 50% to 60% of the total wear. In order to reduce wear and prevent accidents, the following points should be noted when starting:

1. Before starting, it is best to use the crank to crank the crankshaft for dozens of turns. This is especially true for engines that have not been used for a long time. The purpose is to prevent accelerated wear due to the failure of lubricating oil to flow to the friction surfaces in time, and even cause accidents such as burning tiles.

2. The starter motor is a device on the tractor that helps the engine start. The starter motor can only work for a short time, and each start time should not exceed 5 seconds; if it fails to start once, it should be started again after an interval of 1 to 2 minutes; if it fails to start for many times, the cause should be found out and the start should be started again after the fault is eliminated.

3. The engine is not fully preheated and fuel is not supplied.

4. The throttle should not be too large when starting, so as to avoid excessive idling speed and accelerated wear.

2. Preheating and maintaining normal cooling water temperature

When the engine is working at low temperature, the corrosion of the cylinder is significantly increased due to the effect of sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide produced by fuel combustion. To reduce corrosion, the following points should be noted:

1. Take insulation measures to shorten the engine preheating time as much as possible.

2. The engine can only start when the preheating water temperature reaches 40, and the load can only be operated when the water temperature reaches 60.

3. Correct operation of the tractor

In principle, the additional inertia force or impact load that may be received by the moving parts of the farm tractor should be minimized. That is, when operating and driving, it should strive to be stable, do not suddenly change the position of the accelerator lever, do not step on the clutch hard, the tractor's working load should be close to full load and not overloaded, and it should be driven at a low speed on uneven roads and when crossing ditches.

4. Precautions for using tractors in winter

1. In order to facilitate starting the engine, the point start system should be maintained to ensure that the preheating device is in good condition. According to the temperature drop, the specific gravity of the battery electrolyte should be appropriately increased, and attention should be paid to heat preservation and necessary supplementary charging of the battery. When starting, the engine should be preheated with hot water, and the lubricating oil of the oil pan and gearbox should be heated.

2. In order to prevent the engine cooling water temperature from being too low, a thermal blanket should be added in front of the radiator. Antifreeze should be replaced in the cooling system. After the engine is extinguished, if there is no antifreeze measure, the cooling water should be drained when the water temperature drops to about 75°C.

3. Switch to winter fuel and lubricating oil.

4. Add an appropriate amount of diesel to the oil of the wet air filter to improve the filtration effect.

5. Strengthen the maintenance and inspection of the clutch, brake and its operating mechanism to avoid accidents when the road is snowy and icy. The tire inflation pressure should also be appropriately increased. After work, the tractor should not be parked in a wet and watery place to prevent the walking device from freezing on the ground.
