After a visit to the stone yard, Im sharing my top 3 quartz countertop options. Help me choose the best one for our Sunrise Farm kitchen!
Earlier this week I visited the stone yard; its equally one of the most exciting and most nerve-wracking parts of every kitchen renovation. Exciting because the countertop adds much-needed depth and personality to the kitchen. Nerve-wracking because, well, countertops are an investment, and making decisions isnt my favorite. Thankfully, I found a handful of options I absolutely loved, and by some miracle they were all within our budget.
Today Im sharing those options with you, with hopes that youll help me choose one!
At first, we glanced through a couple marble slabs, but I knew there was no convincing the husband. In his mind, marble wasnt practical, so why in the world would you install it in the kitchen?
Quartzite and dolomite were out of budget; granite was not the look I was going for. So I very quickly narrowed my searched to quartz. Weve installed quartz in multiple previous projects, and Ive never had any issues. Its considered a luxury option, despite being manmade. If youre curious on why we prefer quartz, I wrote a post all about its advantages.
In the past, Id gravitate towards white quartz with minimal veins, but this time I wanted something a little more bold. We will be adding an 18-inch backsplash with a 6-inch shelf on the range wall, and I wanted a pattern that would make a beautiful statement. Check out my options, below, and let me know which ones your favorite!
Option 1: Carrara Mist Quartz
Carrara Mist, above, offers the visual appeal of luxurious marble without the high maintenance. It has a milky white base with swirls of beige and gray intermixed with ribbons of darker grays. Its definitely on the warmer side and pairs well with our flooring.
This countertop has a fairly consistent pattern that adds interest and depth but does not overwhelm the room.
Option two: Arctic Ivory Quartz
Arctic Ivory quartz, above, has a light gray background with dark gray marbling. Its also sometimes called Rococo quartz. The delicate swirl pattern give it a marble-like look. It is of Turkish origin and is classified in the Quartz-Exotics group.

Its definitely more cool-toned than option 1, although I am definitely drawn to the more organic swirls. Another minus is that its significantly more expensive than option 1.
Option 3: Carrara Select Quartz
Carrara Select has a white background and a mild gray pattern; it is the quartz I typically choose for our kitchen projects. If youre dreaming of a soft white marble look with whispery veins, Carrara Select is a safe choice. Carrara Marmi is a close alternative.
As I mentioned earlier, however, I wanted something with a bit more interest and warmth for this space. The advantage of option 3 is that its the most affordable of all three.
I strongly recommend bringing stone samples home and comparing them against cabinets, lighting, paint color and any other finish in the room. Stone can look completely different dependent on which direction your room is facing, how much natural light it gets, the time of day, other items in the room, and so much more! Check out how vastly different the same three samples look, below! One photo was taken facing the light, and in the other the light was behind me.
So, tell me what you think! Which option is your favorite? Which do you think fits the overall aesthetic were going for at the Sunrise Farm?
