Glove Box Damper: How and Where to Connect
Hi everyone,
I've been driving my new Yaris for a few weeks now. While I usually have the Bluetooth connected, my girlfriend prefers using the AUX cable, especially when she's in the car with me. This routine means my glove box gets opened and closed frequently.
Recently, the damper inside my glove box disconnected—not from the door end, but from where it attaches inside the dashboard. Usually, when you need to remove the glove box, the damper detaches from the door.
The challenge I'm facing is that even when the damper is closed, it appears too long to connect to the notch inside the dash. Has anyone else encountered this issue and could advise where each end should be connected? Should I just leave it disconnected? I feel like it's an easy fix, but I'm stumped.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Resolving Glove Box Damper Issues
Thanks for posting this... It's good to know that the little split nub can weaken over time.
The only practical solution I can think of is to not use the damper anymore. While it's a nice feature, the glove box will still function without it.
If you insist on fixing it, maybe cut off the nub, drill a hole, and use a bolt and nut. Just be cautious of potential cracking in the dash plastic over time.
