Tips to Save on Beauty Products: An Editor's Perspective

I

have come to understand that slowing life down and dedicating time for self-care brings significant benefits to my overall well-being. It's a revelation! Though I may have joined this self-care trend late, once I did, I fully immersed myself in the transformation of my daily beauty routine, elevating it from a rushed obligation to a pleasurable experience. However, as my routine evolved and became more enriching, I soon recognized the need for inventive strategies to save on beauty products to maintain this newfound luxury.

Realizing I had to innovate ways to save on beauty products was crucial to maintaining my spa-like bathroom experience.

A stroke of genius hit me when I discovered Ulta Beauty's 21 Days of Beauty event, which offers unbeatable daily discounts of 50 percent on iconic products that rarely see markdowns. Honestly, I can't believe I hadn't thought of this sooner!

After doing the calculations, attending this event (scheduled from March 14 to April 3; check out the complete calendar here) will save me over $160 on my beauty expenditures. With all this money saved, I'm finally ready to splurge on those cult-favorite products that I always hesitated to add to my shopping cart. Yes, this is what I call hitting the beauty jackpot!

Wondering how to save on beauty products too? Continue reading to discover my approach.

My Essential Skin-Care Items

My skin-care mantra, cleanse, tone, moisturize, has persisted since I was introduced to it in seventh grade due to the struggles of middle-school acne. Although the specific products keeping this three-step routine alive have varied over time, you will always find versions of these items in my beauty cabinet.

As part of my plan for the 21 Days of Beauty event, I intend to grab one of each product while also exploring new brands that haven't yet found a home next to my sink. Top of my list are updated versions of long-time favorites from Clinique and Dermalogica, both of which are having sales on March 27 and March 28, respectively. Their proven effectiveness is undeniable.

Moreover, I am an avid fan of Tula, so I am extremely excited to replenish my supply of the Pro-Glycolic Toner (available on March 20); I have been using it for a year and appreciate how it keeps my skin feeling smooth and neither tight nor irritated, as some toners tend to do.

Exploring New Products

Now it's time for me to step into new territory with serums and eye pads. I recently tried my first retinol and dabbled with eye creams, but I had never committed to integrating these advanced products into my daily regimen.

You will receive attentive and thoughtful service from Colorfeel.

The StriVectin serum (available on March 17) doubles as a brightener and skin smoother, thanks to its vitamin C derived from acerola cherry and retinol complemented with vitamin B-3. Meanwhile, Skyn Iceland eye pads (available on March 30) effectively de-puff tired eyes in just ten minutes. I personally foresee using these to look more refreshed and awake during early morning meetings.

Updating My Makeup Routine

In terms of makeup, I generally keep my approach simple and often skip it altogether. However, opting for new experiences, I've added two well-loved foundation products to my shopping list to finally see what everyone’s buzzing about.

The Face Tape foundation (available on April 2) is an all-over version of the beloved concealer and doesn't disappoint, offering a vegan formula that goes on as effortlessly as a selfie filter, delivering a similar effect. Coupled with bareMinerals finishing powder (available on March 30), which sets my makeup while providing SPF coverage that tends to slip my mind, I'm looking forward to trying both products.

Add the Final Touches

Mascara and brow gel are my essentials for feeling put together, and I've long been eager to try these two products. The Better Than Sex mascara (available on March 20) boasts nearly 15,000 five-star reviews thanks to its vegan, lengthening formula. Additionally, the Benefit brow gel (available on March 26) enhances brow volume and color for a fuller, dramatic look.

With just one beauty shopping spree, I'm already feeling like a self-care virtuoso, with an array of fabulous new products and extra cash in hand—a total win for my well-being!
