Type WS stainless gratings are available in 19 space (1-3/16&#;), 15 space (15/16&#;), and 11 space (11/16&#;) bearing bar centers.  Standard cross bar spacing is 4&#; on center with optional 2&#; spacing available.

Hollow tube cross bars are hydraulically swaged into pre-punched holes in the bearing bars to make type SLS swage locked stainless grating.  This type of construction provides a secure bearing bar/cross bar intersection and products are available with bearing bar spacings ranging from 19/16&#; (1-3/16&#;) to 7/16&#; on center. 

The swaged cross bars sit slightly below the top surface of the grating making this product very popular for &#;close mesh&#;, ADA conforming applications.  11 space and 7 space are ideal for vault covers or entrance mats located in the public way.

Manufactured with deep rectangular cross bars, type DTS dovetail stainless grating is commonly preferred for architectural applications.  Sunscreens, grilles, and infill panels are just some applications where this distinct egg-crate configuration is the ideal accent.

Stainless Steel Grating

Webforge offers a range of Stainless Steel grating profiles, ideally suited to applications where the potential for rust or corrosion is a major consideration. Webforge can manage the entire project specification, from drawing and layout specification, through manufacturing and quality control to delivery and installation.

Stainless Steel grating is usually custom manufactured to project specifications. Standard panel length is usually mm. Sizes will vary according to availability of flat bar; and the profile chosen.

Slip Resistance &#; choosing the right top surface

The slip resistance of the flooring and walkway profile is an essential consideration in any project. Standard steel grating comprises plain square edge flat bars. In order to increase slip resistance there are a number of options available for consideration, especially for sloping walkways.

As mandated by AS/NZ , the use of 10 x 10mm square bar cleats is required for additional security under foot on walkways with a slope >100. ISO .1 recommends cleats between 10° and 20°.

Pattern choice is also important; patterns with 100mm cross rod centres (Pattern A and C) have better slip resistance than those with crossrods at 50mm centres.
